The Sun hasn't got his hat on

It's been an odd winter. Not much snow - a little on the fells and some dustings in the morning but nothing serious.

We've had lots of grey days and rain but not the crisp winter weather that actually makes the season something special in the Lakes.

Yes, early 2020 has been mild and damp. The kind of weather that makes you want to stay in and get on with your writing, which isn't a bad thing.

When the sun does return, on those odd days of stillness and high cloud, when we have blue sky and shadows, it's quite something. Like a carnival has come to town or something. Everyone comes out to make to most of it and the grey days are forgotten.
