Two-Thirds Done

I’ve just topped the 50K word count for first draft of Blasphemous Isle, book three of the Northumbrian Western Series.

This one has been quite a hard slog. I’ve gone for a shift in writing style with some third person point-of-view slipping in. And the plot has seen some pretty serious revisions in the last six months. It’s not been easy getting on with the writing either with work being so mad. Really busy.

But amazingly, the book is still cracking on. 51,000 words now put together and actually looking like they make sense as well. Generally, anyway.

There’s still much to be done – another 30,000 words in the first draft, then the second draft and finally the read through and polish.
But it feels achievable now. The deadline of summer 2017 completion doesn’t feel quite as impossible. Not quite as impossible.
