Dark Days, Light Work

Dark mornings, mist, frost and hail, early sunset and cold, cold nights. So it’s January. There’s not even the fun of having days off and binge drinking – all that come with Christmas: yes, Christmas that mega-event that built up for months then vanished straight after Boxing Day when the Cream Eggs appeared in the shops.

I’m not a huge fan of January, or winter in general, but it is a good time to crack on with projects. It’s taking me a while to get into gear (what with the dark mornings, mist, fog and hail etc.) but this is a great time to get stuff done. We’re all skint and there’s no pressure to socialise and party – people have usually had enough booze and food in December: enough to last them until Valentine’s Day, at least.

No excuses then. January is dark and wet etc and that’s perfect for sitting in with a cup of coffee. Getting the writing done. By the end of the month I want to have a good 10,000 words slapped down.
