Spring Forth

Time for a new project. Springtime is always good for a fresh start.

Last year, March triggered a spell of poetry, which was fun to do, though soon forgotten. But this year it is something much bigger. A new novel has germinated, complete with a rough structure and some interesting characters.

It's about three families over a period of sixty years. There are settings and a theme to hold it all (loosely) together.

It's early days but there are already a few thousand words on the page. Maybe it will develop and grow or maybe it will end up with some of the still-born ideas (such as the Future Dark Ages books and the Glastonbury screenplay).

It also means that the Northumbrian Westerns are now last year's work. Last decade's work, really. Burnt Horizon, Blighted Land and the intended follow up, Blasphemous Isle: now unlikely to see the light of day, despite having 78,000 already written, were conceived in 2008.

So Spring 2018 feels like the start of something interesting. Just need to write it all down now.
