Shady Patch

I'm struggling to write at the moment. I've been so busy at work (again) and not quite on top of home stuff so the writing thing has been pushed aside. Staring at a computer screen (some more) doesn't really appeal at the moment. It happens every May when the marking is in.

But I always take lots of pictures in the spring. Landscapes rather than the snappy, fun-but-not-very-technical holiday photos, because April -June is a really great time of year to take photos. There's good light first thing in the morning and late afternoon, once the sun has started to swing well past the mid-point and isn't bleaching out all the colours. And it's warm enough to stand around waiting for that perfect shot, unlike November when there is often good light but it is so damned cold.

This is when the Lake District really comes alive, too. Some love autumn, for all those golds and browns and yellows, but springtime is the best part of the year for me. The light greens of new leaves and reds and whites from the blossom. Yellows and reds of the different flowers.

It's gone all too soon, so this year I'm going to grab as many pictures as I can. I'll pick up on the writing in a few weeks.
