Christmas is Upon Us

Cold and dark, lots of food and booze, old films on the telly, busy shops and roads rammed with traffic as people visit relatives over the few days most of us are off. That's what Christmas is like in the UK these days.

Although it's a bit of a chore in some ways, there's not much else to do during the dark days of winter. And we don't start our new workshops until January 2019.

I've tried going away for Christmas. Once to Tanzania - which was okay apart from the malaria tablets causing chaos and all the travelling at such a busy time of year - and another occasion to The Gambia, a nice enough place but slightly boring.

So this year, it's time with the family, a little shopping, eating and drinking and watching films but actually it will be nice to have the down-time. A gap from work in the dark days of winter. And to be honest, there are worse things to do than eat, drink and socialise.
