Student Reunion

I've just been to a reunion in Wolverhampton, where I was a student 30 years ago.

It seems impossible that three decades have passed since I studied BA Economics, of all things (before I saw the light and did and MA in Creative Writing) and I'd almost forgotten what fun it was, being a student in the Midlands back in the eighties, when we were fresh-faced and  probably quite clueless.

This was our first get-together since graduation and there was a lot of drinking, chatting and wandering round old haunts over the weekend. We caught up on some of what we'd been up to over the years but there were so many details it was hard to take in. Even so, there were common themes: marriage, kids, divorce, deaths of relatives and friends. New jobs and exciting travel. The usual ups and downs of life.

It was great to go back and we got on much better than I expected. It looks like there will be more reunions in the future.

Hopefully more frequently than every 30 years.
