Lakes at its loveliest

This is a great time of year to be out and about in the Lakes.

You could argue that any time is good, but July can be fantastic. Warm and relatively dry, with not too many midges. Just a few. And before the August monsoon season that catches out holidaymakers.

It has been dry here for weeks, perfect for taking a wander and enjoying the views. I've only been on short walks but they've been fantastic. Even a stroll up one of the smaller fells is worth doing. Though the bigger ones are always going to be more exciting, they do take a lot of time (and effort).

So it's been Scout Scar recently for me. Only tiny but quiet with fabulous views out towards Morecambe Bay to the south and the Lakeland Fells in the north and west.

Great to give a little head space and thinking time.
